we can leave them in motel room
nightstand drawers
someone will think
it is art
and others will not

they will throw it in the trash
or think that the last person
who touched it had scabies
then look it at with too much
suspicion
and leave it in the drawer

someone will think it is a sign
just for them
it might remind them of their first love
because that first love lived on a street
that was also named after a tree
then they will leave who they are with
 find and then stalk
that first love
it could be good
it could be very bad

a bored kid might find it
after just watching Goonies for the first time
on TBS on the motel tv set
while the parents are sleeping
so exhausted from driving all day

they might think it leads to a map
that leads to candy bars and pirate treasure
they might run away and find out
about real criminals
that don't wear berets

the motel cleaning lady
might find it
and think
why did this asshole
leave me this
instead of a tip
then quit her job
which she hated anyway
she will write a bestselling
erotic novel
because secretly
she has been watching
people through the supposed
heat vent in the ceiling
and thinks she could write
everyone's sex life way better

the possibilities are endless

so let's go now
we will fill the grocery store tote bags
we always forget for our actual groceries
we will stuff them with with water balloons
and throw them out the car window
at random people
we can take polaroid pictures of that
we can leave those at the napkin dispensers
in every Starbucks we have ever gone too

you get the picture
meet me at Sycamore St.

Loved let's take polaroid pictures of street signs!!! Every phrase brought me to that moment, to that spot in that hotel room, and whisked me along to the next mind's scene. So wonderful to read.
